About the role

We are growing and adding a Manufacturing Electrical/Test Engineering II position supporting our product lines in the Melbourne, FL facility. As a Manufacturing Electrical Engineer II, you will make a significant contribution to the team developing, verifying, and sustaining test processes, test equipment, and test procedures used in the manufacturing of new and existing Collins Aerospace products.

Responsibilities

• Projects & New Solutions
  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts to improve test yields, production throughput, test capacity, and overall product quality.
  • Identify component test failure trends and perform root cause analysis; implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare test failure analysis reports for production.
  • Study performance and reliability of existing test equipment; establish programs to decrease downtime.
  • Analyze test approach, plans, and processes for cost reduction, efficiency, yields, and capacity opportunities.
  • Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for staffing and test equipment needs.
  • Identify new test approaches to minimize production staffing needs and capital requirements.
  • Select and order capital test equipment using cost/payback analysis; generate and track Appropriation Requests.
  • Improve existing test fixtures and equipment to enhance test performance.
  • Participate in Production Readiness Reviews to determine suitability of new designs for production.
  • Support Gage R&R efforts on new test solutions to verify consistent product and equipment performance.
• Sustain/Support
  • Provide technical support for the entire product test process, from board level through top-level test, and assist floor test technicians in meeting monthly production schedules.
  • Develop complete working knowledge of assigned test systems and hardware.
  • Provide test engineering support during resolution of manufacturing flow inhibitors (MFIs).
  • Offer technical assistance and mentorship to floor test technicians and other engineers.
  • Interface with design engineering to coordinate design changes for sustaining production during resolution of obsolete parts, tolerance, and test yield issues.
  • Train test technicians on products and test systems.
  • Maintain test documentation for current configuration and oversee accurate change management procedures.

Requirements

• University degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field, or 6 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
• 2+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer with a product testing focus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic statistics, parametric process control, and Six Sigma control methods.
• Deep knowledge of Lean electronics.
• Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to technical challenges.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
