About the Role
The career-level Manufacturing CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Engineer will be skilled in manufacturing equipment, tooling, and process improvements, providing overall manufacturing process support in a high-volume machining and grinding environment. This onsite role is based in Grand Rapids and may be eligible for relocation benefits.
Responsibilities
- Support CNC engineering activities, including CNC machining equipment for ID grinding, OD grinding, drilling, milling, and turning.
- Work off shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure all manufacturing technical documentation is up to date.
- Provide technical direction to internal teams and oversee external vendors to meet quality, efficiency, and production requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive problem-solving initiatives, such as improving equipment efficiency, resolving downtime events, and addressing customer quality concerns.
- Provide day-to-day support of manufacturing operations and maintenance.
- Identify and resolve safety and ergonomics issues.
- Facilitate or deliver training for team members and maintenance personnel, including developing technical training manuals and work instructions.
- Participate in project planning and coordination to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in a CNC engineering support role in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience with computer-based office and engineering software, including Microsoft Suite and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of CNC machining equipment for one or more of the following processes: ID grinding, OD grinding, drilling, milling, and turning.
- Ability to work off shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of cold forming and heat processes.
- Experience with high-volume fabrication manufacturing.
- Proficiency with CAD software.
- Experience with statistical analysis.
- Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
- Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Project management skills.
