Manufacturing Assembly Technician II, Amazon Leo
About the role
The Manufacturing Assembly Technician II role at Amazon Leo is integral to the development of the company’s low Earth orbit satellite network. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, precision, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Safety & Quality Leadership: Champion high safety and quality standards for both products and personnel.
- Satellite Integration & Testing: Perform integration and testing of Leo satellites and complex subassemblies in cleanroom and ESD-controlled environments.
- Hardware Handling: Conduct rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive hardware with precision and care.
- Precision Tooling: Utilize calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, optical inspection devices, micrometers, and calipers.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Process Compliance: Execute work in accordance with established procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
- Non-Conformance Documentation: Identify and document non-conformities as required to ensure traceability and corrective action.
- Digital Systems Use: Operate computer software programs including Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in SAP.
- Collaboration & Improvement: Partner with Manufacturing Engineers (ME) to develop, refine, and document activities, driving continuous improvement opportunities.
- Operational Support: Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain an efficient, safe, and effective work environment.
- Flexibility: Work overtime when required and adapt to working independently or collaboratively within a team.
Requirements
- Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed.
- Able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive assembly operations.
- Able to climb and down ladders, work in tight spaces, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, and stretch may be required to perform the functions of this position.
- Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted.
Additional Requirements
Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines. The starting pay for this role in Washington State is up to $33.50/hour and employees are eligible for incremental raises based on tenure. Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years in a high traceability manufacturing environment, or relevant trade school certification.
- 1+ years using hand tools and/or precision measuring instruments (i.e., Calipers, multi-meters, torque wrenches).
- 1+ years working with test tools and test methods that adequately validate the system.
- Experience reading, interpreting and working from engineering documentation and/or drawings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) certification/license.
- CFOT certification or equivalent experience.
- Airman or Avionic certification or equivalent experience.
- ASE certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience in fast-paced production environment with flight hardware.
- Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements.
- Experience working with Electro-Mechanical Assembly, Final Integration, Fiber Optics/Optical and/or Harness Integration.
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
