Manual Machinist
About the role
Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Machinist to join our team at our La Porte location. Schedule: Monday- Friday 7am-4pm plus overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Setup and maintain machines in the shop for pump fabrication.
- Accurately measure, record, and draw pump components. Example of measuring tools (Vernier Calipers, Micrometer, Inside Micrometers and indicators).
- Read and analyze design drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment such as VTL, Horizontal Boring Machine, & Lathes.
- Support teardown and assembly of pumps when machining not required.
- Observe vital safety precautions for fabrications, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping of equipment and parts for storage and transportation.
- Operate powered industrial equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines and Ferguson safe operating procedures.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of manual lathe experience preferred
- Prior of fabrication experience is preferred
- Ability to work with little direction while building tools or fixtures for production
- Strong conceptual skills
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- Ability to remain results-focused in the fast-paced customer service environment
- Welding experience a plus

Pay
Pay Range: $17.41 - $26.11 Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles. This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible. Ferguson complies with all wage regulations. The starting wage may be higher in certain locations based on local or state wage requirements.
