Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort featuring 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, an ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces. Situated on the waterfront along the Mystic River, the resort includes a six-acre park with a harborwalk, events lawn, public viewing areas, and retail and dining experiences overlooking the Encore Harbor Walk.

About the role

The Encore Boston Harbor Manicurist - Salon will coordinate within the Spa Department, performing various manicure and pedicure procedures while ensuring positive customer relations and adherence to established guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining Encore standards, supporting team members, and maximizing departmental success.

Hourly Pay: $13.26

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
  • Participates in short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness.
  • Identifies key drivers of success and contributes to departmental performance, accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of policies and procedures.
  • Verifies compliance with internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Delivers and maintains a high level of property-wide service and satisfaction.
  • Performs practical and signature services, including manicures, pedicures, hand/feet paraffin, sculptured nails, nail wraps, fiberglass nails, polish changes, and nail repairs.
  • Maintains knowledge of and correctly uses all departmental chemicals and equipment.
  • Anticipates guests’ needs, responds promptly, and maintains positive guest relations at all times.
  • Keeps all equipment and work areas clean, sanitized, neat, stocked, and orderly.
  • Escorts guests from the lounge area to designated workspaces and provides up-to-date techniques in a comfortable and relaxing experience.
  • Maintains and reports broken, damaged, or unsafe equipment to management.
  • Adheres to established safety and service standards for all appointments and treatments within allotted time.
  • Sells retail products and stays aware of new products and procedures.
  • Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority to ensure satisfaction.
  • Follows all regulations in accordance with the State Board of Cosmetology.
  • Prioritizes safety and follows department and company safety standards.
  • Maintains industry knowledge through continuing education and training.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or above.
  • Must obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
  • Cosmetology license from the State Board of Cosmetology.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of manicurist experience in a demanding, high-volume luxury salon environment preferred.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from employees or guests.
  • Conversational English required; second language a plus.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, stretch, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Moderate physical ability, including lifting or maneuvering at least thirty (30) pounds and varied instances of standing or walking.

Work Environment

  • Noise level is typically moderate but may increase to loud in certain areas, such as the property floor or back of house.
  • Must interact professionally with internal and external guests.
  • Team members must be able to work varying schedules to reflect business needs due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality and entertainment industry.
