About the role

This role offers a unique opportunity to make an impact across Spectrum’s news organization. As Managing Editor, Editorial Services, you'll lead transformative programs that empower our Multimedia Journalists and Managing Editors with the skills and standards to excel.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging training programs for newsroom teams
  • Mentor journalists in reporting, writing, and editorial decision-making
  • Set and enforce high standards for quality and consistency

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, ability to lead people and obtain results through others

  • Problem analysis skills and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and a functional level
  • Knowledge of all aspects of local news programming, especially social media
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise written analysis and reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to effectively present information to management
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • To show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties
  • To think strategically and anticipate future trends, needs and expectations
  • Demonstrated business planning and forecasting skills
  • Demonstrated analytic, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to analyze data and develop and present data driven reports

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Benefits

A comprehensive pay and benefits package that rewards employees for their contributions to our success, supporting all aspects of their well-being at every stage of life. The base pay for this position generally is between $107,900.00 and $229,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.

Schedule

Works primarily inside a climate controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned field duties on occasion. Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment. Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes.

Physical Requirements

May be required to lift up to 5 pounds.
