Managing Editor

GCSAA is seeking an experienced, collaborative and detail-oriented Managing Editor to lead the editorial production of Golf Course Management (GCM) magazine, the association's flagship publication serving golf course management professionals worldwide. This role oversees the monthly publication process, leads the editorial team, and collaborates with writers, designers, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality print and digital content. The ideal candidate thrives in a deadline-driven environment and represents GCM at industry events, advancing GCSAA's mission through high-quality journalism and compelling storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the monthly publication process for Golf Course Management magazine, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging content.
• Lead and supervise the editorial team, managing workflows from concept through final production.
• Collaborate with writers, designers, and internal stakeholders to produce high-quality print and digital content.
• Represent GCM at the annual GCSAA Conference and Trade Show and other industry events.
• Manage editorial calendars, production schedules, and project priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong command of AP Style.
• Demonstrated editorial judgment and experience managing publication workflows.
• Proven leadership experience supervising editorial or communications professionals.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Excellent interviewing, storytelling, and feature-writing abilities for professional audiences.
• Experience managing magazine, newspaper, or other professional publication production.
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Five to seven years of professional experience as a journalist, editor, or writer, including magazine or newspaper publishing.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%, including weekends and overnight travel, for industry events.
• Must reside within a commutable distance of GCSAA headquarters in Lawrence, KS.

Pay

$65,000 - $72,000 annually.
