Position Summary

Managing Editor for the HME News, portfolio of United Publications, a VGM Group company. HME News delivers industry news to the home medical equipment (HME) market through print and eMedia.

Working Location

Remote – fully open to a remote candidate. Periodically (2+/- times a year) travel may be required to visit the main office in Yarmouth, ME

Work Hours Classification

Full-time, Monday – Friday; additional hours above and beyond 40 does occur based on the needs of the role.

Responsibilities/Duties Of The Job

• Covering assigned news beats
• Producing stories for weekly email newsletters and monthly print publication / digital edition
• Contributing to social media accounts
• Conducting phone and video interviews
• Occasional webcast and podcast hosting
• Posting stories, web updates, and videos to website
• Managing a revolving group of industry guest writers
• Led layout of the publication
• Managing story budget

Position Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience writing and reporting in a daily news setting.
• You should have a flair for writing and the desire to get the news first; demonstrated leadership qualities;
• A strong work ethic;
• Excellent copy-editing skills;
• InDesign experience.

Business writing expertise and an understanding of the HME market are a plus.

Education

A bachelor's degree in journalism, English or a closely related field is required.
