Managing Director, Work, Rewards and Careers
About the role
As a Managing Director in our Work, Rewards and Careers practice, you will lead and partner with colleagues to sell and deliver client engagements across industry sectors. You will act as a coach and mentor for consultants and analysts on projects ranging from broad-based rewards, careers, and talent management to M&A due diligence, total rewards strategy design, and optimization assessments.
Our work spans a wide variety of disciplines, including:
- Rewards: Rewards strategy, competitive compensation analyses, base salary program design, annual and sales incentive program design, pay equity and pay fairness assessments
- Careers and Work: Job levelling and architecture, competency and skills frameworks, role profiles, performance management, workforce analytics and planning, functional/organization structure design, career philosophy/strategy
You will also contribute to activities that support continued revenue growth, such as marketing events, industry research, intellectual capital development, and participation in firm-wide industry or topical teams.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead consultant on client projects, guiding teams to develop strategies and programs aligned with clients’ human capital and business objectives.
- Oversee the delivery of multiple and complex project engagements to ensure profitable revenue, associate engagement, and high client satisfaction.
- Lead new business generation through pipeline management, prospect discovery discussions, and proposal development.
- Establish collaborative client relationships to understand business challenges and expand WTW’s service offerings.
- Partner strategically with clients to pioneer unique solutions, leveraging digital tools for ongoing delivery.
- Provide high-quality consulting advice, technical content, and engaging deliverables to senior client leaders.
- Communicate detailed findings, analyses, and recommendations effectively to senior client stakeholders.
- Manage and mentor project managers and junior staff, providing coaching and feedback.
- Demonstrate leadership by mentoring consultants and analysts and modeling WTW values.
- Contribute to the development of new tools, approaches, and intellectual capital.
- Enhance WTW’s brand visibility through articles, conference participation, and thought leadership.
Requirements
- A minimum of 15 years of design-oriented experience in one or more Work, Rewards, and Careers (WRC) disciplines, gained in consulting or highly consultative corporate environments.
- Significant knowledge of rewards programs and processes.
- Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues using quantitative and qualitative data.
- Creative, analytical, and results-driven orientation, with the ability to draw and communicate conclusions, themes, and trends from data.
- Strong project management capabilities, including managing internal teams and coordinating with client partners.
- Highly developed executive presence with persuasive oral and written communication skills.
- Strong client relationship skills, with the ability to influence and work across all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to sell and solve client issues while leading and developing high-performing consulting teams.
- Mentoring and coaching skills.
- Working knowledge of Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, and MS Word.
Pay
The base salary compensation range for this role is $230,000–$350,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
