About the role
Avalere Health seeks a Managing Director to join our US Market Access practice. This role is responsible for developing and securing business, conceptualizing project scopes, managing a portfolio of clients, serving as a subject matter expert, creating strategic and tactical recommendations, leading solutions to complex client issues, and proactively seeking speaking engagements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and secure business, with a personal sales goal of $2M annually.
- Conceptualize the scope of projects for clients, assemble a cross-functional team, and oversee the team from project initiation through client delivery.
- Manage a portfolio of clients to ensure that all of Avalere Health’s knowledge and expertise are available to meet client needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on reimbursement, market access and commercialization related issues impacting the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, diagnostic, payer, and provider industries.
- Create strategic and tactical recommendations for clients to ensure optimal market access for client products.
- Independently lead solutions to complex client issues in a timely and appropriate manner, with support from junior team members.
- Proactively seek and obtain speaking engagements with clients, and thought leaders to generate public recognition for Avalere Health and result in new business and revenue generation.
- Collaborate with other Advisory teams (Global Market Access, Policy, Evidence and Strategy, and SenseLab) as well as other Avalere Health business units (Marketing/Agency of Record, Medical Communications, and Global).
- Mentor, supervise, and train team members across the Advisory business.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant healthcare, life sciences, or other industry experience.
- 6+ years of market access, reimbursement and/or commercialization experience.
- 2+ years of consulting experience with business development experience and accountability.
- 5+ years of management/supervisory experience with excellent leadership/mentoring skills in developing and coaching staff.
- Solid writing and storytelling skills as a foundation for professional business communication.

- Ability to establish personal credibility as a strategic and reimbursement expert with clients.
- Significant and sustained project leadership / executive sponsorship experience that includes interacting with and presenting to senior-level executives and/or health policy leaders.
- Proven situational leadership skills and the ability to motivate and generate enthusiasm with individuals across all levels of the organization.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills that translate into positive relationships with colleagues and clients, including a highly collaborative approach working across cross-functional colleagues.
- Solid communication skills including the ability to concisely explain complicated concepts to executives within and outside of the firm.
- Experience collaborating with policy colleagues to determine market access and commercialization impact of policy proposals, legislation, and/or federal regulation and conveying findings to clients and the public.
- Ability to analyze and understand market access trends from the perspective of multiple stakeholders and translate related business implications.
- Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytic skills with the ability to apply knowledge outside of one’s immediate functional area.
Pay
$225,000 - $270,000 per year
Schedule
Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid and remote work, along with the option to work from anywhere across the globe two weeks each year.
