Responsibilities

• Determine editorial choices to promote quality and engage audiences
• Develop and train teams to attract talent
• Oversee the Managing Editor and provide newsroom-wide mentorship
• Make data-informed decisions to connect audiences with stories that matter
• Represent the organization's interests in discussions with corporate departments
• Manage high-performing teams by inspiring, guiding, educating, and coaching skillfully

Requirements

• Experience: 8+ years in newsroom management, 5+ years in management
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, management, or related field
• Technical Skills: Sound understanding of the evolving digital media landscape
• Skills: Demonstrated, applied understanding of visual journalism, digital video, and social media, experience working with in-house product/platform teams
• Abilities: Support writers and editors in making tough journalistic calls, develop and execute ideas to expand audiences
• Travel Ability: Works primarily inside a climate-controlled environment
• Schedule: Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends, and holidays, flexible with schedule changes due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies

• Master’s degree preferred

Benefits

A comprehensive pay and benefits package includes competitive compensation, a range of $135,300 to $240,100, based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additional incentive-based compensation may be offered.

The base pay for this position generally is between $135,300.00 and $240,100.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Schedule

Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends, and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies.
