About the role

Spectrum News NECN is seeking a talented Senior Manager, News Gathering Operations to lead our team in delivering compelling, informative news coverage. We cover MA, NH, ME, VT, RI, and CT, using innovative journalistic approaches backed by comprehensive research to engage and inform viewers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of news gathering related to the network's daily production of news content and programming.
• Lead a team of assignment desk personnel and supervise reporter activities.
• Ensure that the editorial and production values of news programming meet Spectrum News' NECN high standards consistently.
• Build relationships with community leaders, politicians, and other stakeholders to stay informed about important issues in the area.
• Engage and connect with our local audience through character-driven stories.

Requirements

• Experience as a senior or unit producer at a news station - 5+ years
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, graduate degree preferred
• Demonstrated news judgment, knowledge of current local news and newsmakers
• Effective communication skills with all levels in the organization
• Ability to work on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives
• Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies, ability to work weekends and holidays

We offer a comprehensive pay and benefits package that rewards employees for their contributions to our success, supporting all aspects of their well-being at every stage of life. The base pay for this position generally is between $96,300.00 and $170,900.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
