Responsibilities
- Independently lead and manage complex client engagements, overseeing multi-resource projects with minimal oversight.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact, managing scope, timelines, risks, and client expectations.
- Collaborate with executive, operational, and IT stakeholders to define goals and deliver strategic outcomes.
- Compile and present technical findings, recommendations, and roadmaps to client leadership.
- Provide advanced technical guidance across healthcare application environments, database architecture, and system integrations.
- Lead configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting efforts across EHR/PM platforms and ancillary systems.
- Design, maintain, and support scalable, high-availability database environments.
- Monitor system performance metrics, proactively identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements.
- Implement and support HL7 interfaces, interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect), and healthcare interoperability workflows.
- Support secure data transfer mechanisms and HIPAA-compliant security frameworks, including access controls, encryption, and audit monitoring.
- Lead backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning for mission-critical healthcare systems.
- Support custom reporting and analytics initiatives using SQL, SSRS, Crystal Reports, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, billable time tracking, and expense reporting.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and project governance standards.
- Stay current on healthcare IT regulations, interoperability standards, and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 7+ years of experience in healthcare IT systems administration, database management, or technical consulting supporting ambulatory environments.
- Prior consulting experience with direct client ownership strongly preferred.
- Technical Expertise:
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience supporting HL7 interfaces, integration engines, and interoperability workflows (FHIR familiarity preferred).
- Experience supporting EHR/PM platforms such as NextGen (preferred), Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Aprima, or ModMed.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across database, application, and interface layers.
- Experience with reporting tools (SSRS, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Professional Skills:
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with executive-facing confidence.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 75%, as required.
