Responsibilities
- Represent insured employers and PMA in litigation of workers' compensation claims.
- Provide input on specific legislative/regulatory agenda for workers' compensation.
- Respond to requests from claim personnel for legal advice and direction in support of handling workers' compensation claims.
- Provide leadership and direct oversight for staff, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.
- Aid in training claim personnel on various aspects of workers' compensation law, including litigation process and procedures.
- Perform other duties as appropriate and relevant to the position.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Licensed with the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
- Minimum of 10 years of workers' compensation litigation experience representing insured employers and/or carriers with a proven track record of providing quality and cost effective advocacy.
- Experience supervising employees, delegating responsibilities, and driving team performance to meet organizational goals.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and ability to use internal legal billing software/systems.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, including ability to deliver client presentations and conduct training seminars.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented, exercise good judgment, and balance multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in either a self-directed or a collaborative environment.
- Solid research, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Extensive technical knowledge of workers' compensation law and litigation process and ability to effectively apply such knowledge in a variety of claims and business situations.
- Strong familiarity with, and ability to apply, litigation management techniques.
- Ability to travel to as needed.
