About the Opportunity
A growing Dallas-Fort Worth litigation practice is seeking an experienced Managing Attorney to provide senior-level legal leadership and help strengthen the performance and development of the legal team. This is more than a traditional senior attorney position. The Managing Attorney will work closely with firm leadership to oversee legal operations, case strategy, attorney performance, matter progression, and team development. The role offers a defined path toward Managing Partner within approximately 12–18 months, based on performance and demonstrated leadership.

Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day performance of attorneys and paralegals.
- Provide guidance on legal strategy, case progression, work quality, deadlines, and trial readiness.
- Conduct structured case reviews and ensure matters are progressing appropriately.
- Review substantive legal work and maintain consistent quality standards.
- Monitor deadlines, legal risks, staffing needs, workload, and matter budgets.
- Delegate work effectively among attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals.
- Coach and develop attorneys through regular feedback, mentoring, and performance management.
- Participate in attorney hiring, staffing, intake, and performance evaluation decisions.
- Address performance concerns and ensure appropriate escalation of significant legal, client-service, or ethical issues.
- Help establish and improve legal processes, standards, and workflows.
- Support the responsible use of AI, legal technology, and technology-driven workflows.
- Maintain an active litigation practice while providing leadership to the broader legal team.
- Help develop a stronger, more accountable, and scalable legal organization.
Ideal Candidate
- Approximately 10–18 years of litigation experience.
- Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
- Current Dallas-Fort Worth presence or willingness to work in the DFW area.
- Strong experience in commercial, real estate, title, construction, business, insurance defense, or related civil litigation.
- Significant courtroom experience, including first-chair trial experience or comparable responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience supervising attorneys, paralegals, or other legal professionals.
- Experience managing a diverse litigation portfolio with competing deadlines and priorities.
- Strong delegation, coaching, mentoring, and performance-management skills.
- Excellent legal judgment, communication, organization, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to take ownership, establish accountability, and improve team performance.
- Interest in building and developing a growing legal practice.
- Comfortable working with legal technology, AI tools, and structured workflows.
