About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished prosecutor for a management position in Felony Trial Bureau IV. Candidates should have experience prosecuting and investigating major felony cases.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing grand jury practice
  • Case enhancement
  • Investigation
  • Negotiations
  • Trial practice
  • Absentee work for second seating ADAs in court for hearings and trials
  • Managing a staff of Assistant District Attorneys, paralegals, and detectives

Qualifications

  • J.D. degree and active membership in the New York State bar in good standing
  • At least 8 years post-J.D. experience
  • Extensive experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution
  • Substantial grand jury and felony jury trial experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Prior experience managing attorneys preferred

Areas of Expertise/Mastery Required

  • Grand Jury practice
  • Discovery compliance
  • Search warrant drafting and litigation
  • Pre-trial litigation involving the 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments to the Constitution
  • Articles 125, 265 & the law on justification; Article 120: Assault and other offenses; Article 140: Burglary and Related offenses; Article 160: Robbery; Article 150: Arson
  • Mental health defenses
  • Forensic evidence, including DNA, ballistics, and fingerprint analysis; electronic/digital evidence

Pay

The salary range is from $165,000 to $190,000. Both title and salary will be commensurate with experience.
