About the role
Drive Financial Excellence Behind Iconic Brands. Join a team where finance directly influences how products are built, costed, and brought to market. As the Managerial Cost Accountant, you'll play a critical role in developing accurate product costing and Bills of Materials (BOMs) that support both existing products and exciting new brand launches. This is more than a traditional cost accounting role—you'll partner across Finance, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Supply Chain to build costing models, improve manufacturing data, and deliver the financial insights that drive smarter business decisions.
Location: Louisville, KY or Carrollton, TX - Hybrid with 3 days per week in office.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end costing and Bill of Materials (BOM) implementation for new product launches and existing brands.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance managerial cost standards to ensure accurate product costing.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance to collect, validate, and optimize BOMs, routings, and product structures.
- Analyze manufacturing, labor, material, packaging, and component costs to identify opportunities and improve cost accuracy.
- Ensure all costing elements—including components, freight, excise taxes, rebates, royalties, and other cost drivers—are accurately defined and reflected in product costs.
- Validate account mappings to ensure proper financial statement reporting, including Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Inventory.
- Establish and maintain BOM governance, including hierarchy, naming conventions, and item relationships to drive consistency across the organization.
- Support new product introductions by providing timely and accurate cost analysis for business decisions.
- Identify process improvement opportunities that strengthen costing accuracy, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
- Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for business leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience supporting manufacturing, operations, or cost accounting.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the consumer packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, manufacturing, or beverage alcohol industries.
- Knowledge of inventory accounting, manufacturing finance, item master data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and standard costing methodologies.
- Experience supporting new product launches or product lifecycle costing.
