The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Clearance: Secret (required for start). Travel: Yes, 10% of the time. Relocation assistance: May be available. This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); candidates will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire for approval.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of quality and safety performance.
  • Provide daily operations guidance to a team of managers and individual contributors supporting receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and calibration.
  • Ensure inspection tools, equipment, and process control documents adhere to quality requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional management to prioritize manufacturing and product testing.
  • Identify and resolve quality-related issues expeditiously and proficiently.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Drive culture change toward more proactive risk mitigation, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
  • Support Return to Green, Failure Analysis, and Corrective Action activities with a focus on full resolution and future risk mitigation.
  • Use sound judgment, innovative thinking, and excellent interpersonal/management skills to plan, motivate, and accomplish goals through your staff.

Requirements

  • Eight years of managerial and quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to effectively lead a diverse group of workers across multiple shifts while exemplifying Northrop Grumman Leadership Behaviors and values.
  • Knowledge and application of GD&T, AS9102, AS9100, and RCCA.
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational abilities.
  • U.S. citizenship (required to acquire a security clearance).

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP, Solumina, and/or TipQA experience.
  • Supplier Quality experience.
  • Experience with multi-shift operations.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC).
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Quality-related certifications (CQI, CMQ/OE, Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt).
