The UWI St. Augustine Campus is seeking applications for the position of Manager, Technology Transfer and Commercialisation (Level II).
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the technology transfer and commercialisation activities at the campus. This includes identifying, evaluating, and negotiating the licensing and commercialisation of intellectual property generated by the university.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess potential technologies for commercialisation
- Negotiate and manage technology transfer agreements
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners
- Manage the commercialisation process from concept to market
- Collaborate with academic researchers to identify and protect intellectual property
- Monitor and report on the performance of licensed technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, science, or business administration
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technology transfer and/or commercialisation
- Experience in managing intellectual property rights
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing technology transfer and commercialisation
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field preferred
- Experience in higher education or research institutions
- Knowledge of international technology transfer frameworks
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
