Manager, Supply Chain Purchasing
About the role
Drive the purchasing processes, tools, and applications for the site/function. Advance subject matter expertise of purchasing processes, tools, and applications. Coach and mentor others on strategic activities. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for facilitating, mentoring, and coordinating successful planning and inventory projects, ensuring both technical and people aspects are considered, and incorporating change management strategies. Manage resources to effectively execute site/function strategy deployment plans.
Responsibilities
- Leads and develops a high-performing procurement team, overseeing performance management, coaching, recognition, and compensation planning.
- Resolves complex procurement bottlenecks to safeguard high-priority project timelines.
- Supervises ongoing communication with internal customers to gather information on materials availability and timing needs.
- Works with Accounts Payable (A/P) to investigate and resolve issues with payment of supplier invoices.
- Assists in the resolution of receipt and supplier invoice discrepancies.
- Reassigns personnel as necessary to optimize work.
- Drives cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders to continuously align critical project timing needs.
- Partners with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve complex receipt and supplier invoice discrepancies, ensuring timely payments and maintaining strong vendor relations.
Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of global supply chain management, distribution methods, and global transportation services and inventory management.
- Good understanding of IT concepts and integrated business applications.
- Knowledge of ERP applications related to supplier collaboration and communication, as well as report and analysis basics.
- Manages overall relationship with internal teams with a high level of collaboration and team performance.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-resolution skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Significant skills in multitasking and time management.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
- Ability to effectively lead, manage, train, and motivate a diverse group of employees.
- Provides direct and indirect supervision of employees in a division/department or advises on policy issues within an area of expertise.
- Knowledge of purchasing processes and procedures, including market insights for assigned commodities and other processes within centralizing procurement and site operations.
Qualifications
7–10 years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management (SCM), Business, Materials Management, or a related field. APICS certifications (CPIM/CSCP/CLTD) or Engineering degrees are preferred, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by geography.
Physical Demands
Duties are performed in a normal office environment with continuous light physical effort, including prolonged repetitive motion, standing, and sitting in a confined workspace. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
