About the Role
As a Manager of Supplier Quality, you will manage a group of Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs), Analysts, and/or Admins to proactively assure the quality of supplied components within assigned commodities and responsibilities.
- Lead the department in creating, developing, and implementing strategic objectives and action plans to improve supplier quality performance and support overall company objectives.
- Coordinate and communicate plans with other departments such as Procurement, Operations, and Engineering to ensure overall company supply chain objectives are met.
- Monitor department progress in achieving objectives and develop or implement changes as needed.
- Assist in developing and maintaining department systems and processes, including supplier non-conformance tracking (PPM rejects at Copeland plants), department Quality Management System (ISO policies and procedures), PPAP, deviation, and supplier audits.
- Ensure New Product Development (NPD) programs are properly supported by SQEs, employing APQP principles proactively to assure suppliers can produce parts consistently meeting all requirements.
- Lead the department in effectively selecting capable suppliers and developing them as needed to assure quality parts.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and, when needed, develop and implement action plans to correct quality issues. Ensure supplier system audits and process audits are performed as required.
- Staff the department with qualified personnel, developing them through performance monitoring, mentoring, coaching, and training. Adhere to all Copeland Human Resource requirements for Managers.
- Assist employees with establishing their annual objectives and ensure these support overall department and company objectives. Evaluate employee job performance and attainment of objectives per Human Resources processes.
- Develop the annual budget for the group, monitor spending, and make adjustments as needed to achieve budget objectives.
- Function as the Commodity SQE for specific commodity assignments.
Requirements
- Experience and proficiency with leading, supervising, and training others.
- Experience with developing and executing strategic objectives and setting goals for others.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Manufacturing (or equivalent work experience).
- Quality engineering experience including formal training in: APQP, Flow Charting, Control Plans, PFMEA, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R).
- Written and verbal communication and leadership through all levels of a global corporation, including preparing slides for leadership.
- Problem-solving, corrective action, process improvement techniques, quality auditing, quality systems, ISO 9001, and/or IATF16949.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
- Proficiency with computers and software as relates to business and quality needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA.
- Materials Engineering knowledge.
- Certifications in ASQ (CQA, CQE, CSQP), Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent.
- Ability to balance and understand the needs of stakeholders (Operations, Procurement, Product Engineering, suppliers), adapt decision-making processes, and collaborate toward common goals.
- Ability to collect and use data to make decisions and drive results, plan and align work toward strategic and tactical goals, and provide clear updates to internal Project Management organizations.
- Advanced statistics, problem-solving, and process improvement techniques.
- Understanding/knowledge of Lean principles (Kaizen, Std work, Kanban, VSM, Continuous Flow, 5S+1, Poka-yoke, waste elimination).
Schedule
This role is based fully onsite and is not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.

Our facility is located in Sidney, OH, within driving distance of Dayton, Troy, and Columbus. The area offers a low cost of living, excellent school systems, and low crime rates, creating a family-friendly environment. Sidney is home to a growing community with restaurants, festivals, shopping, and arts scenes.
Our newly renovated Sidney campus includes 1M square feet of manufacturing floor space and an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location serves as the headquarters for our HVACR Americas business unit. Approximately 1,600 employees work in Sidney, supporting a variety of business functions and offering opportunities for advancement.
