Manager, Staffing

About the role

The Manager of Workforce Strategy and Planning partners with the Staffing team to drive staffing priorities for Bloomingdale’s through analytics and initiatives that support the company’s strategic goals. This role monitors programs, adjusts strategies to maximize sales results, profit, and performance, and provides actionable recommendations to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytics for staffing initiatives and develop strategies aligned with company priorities.
• Provide recaps, actionable recommendations, and directional leadership to improve results.
• Evaluate strategy effectiveness and identify staffing opportunities or challenges to re-allocate resources for sales and profit growth.
• Publish and maintain select monthly reporting.
• Review business needs and provide insights for staffing re-allocation recommendations.
• Create and analyze the BAR (Bloomingdale’s Area Report—staffing metrics report) to monitor business results and staffing/expense performance.
• Develop improved reporting and analytical tools to enhance expense and staffing management.
• Participate in the Annual/Seasonal Staff Planning process, including benchmarking expense and staffing plans and developing store staffing plans for Selling, Cosmetics, Support, and Outlets.
• Forecast and budget weekly hours for schedule generation to support in-store events and maximize coverage.
• Monitor and maintain the Store Hours platform, analyzing recommendations to optimize productivity, payroll, and sales results.
• React to business trends to capitalize on opportunities and minimize expense exposure.
• Create ad hoc reporting for stores and central merchant initiatives to drive sales.

Requirements

• 4-year college degree.
• 3–4+ years of work experience; retail background preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data, develop recommendations, and implement solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS-Access).
• Ability to balance competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
• Strong follow-up skills, sense of urgency, and ability to learn new systems.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and analytical reasoning.
• Ability to develop detailed action plans and execute them effectively.
• Experience collaborating with senior management and store teams.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
