The role of Manager / Sr. Manager, Technical Operations is a foundational leadership opportunity for a technical operations professional looking to build and scale a modern infrastructure function in a fast-growing healthcare technology environment.
About the role
You will own the reliability, security, and scalability of a mission-critical platform supporting improved access to healthcare services. Working closely with engineering and executive leadership, you will shape operational strategy, processes, tooling, and team structure.
Responsibilities
- Build a high-performing function that ensures platform reliability, operational excellence, and secure technology delivery.
- Combine technical expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution to improve infrastructure, security, and organizational efficiency.
- Apply AI-powered tools and automation to enhance DevOps workflows, including remediation, anomaly detection, capacity optimization, incident response, and operational processes.
- Establish safe AI adoption practices by defining governance, data handling standards, auditability requirements, and appropriate controls.
- Own the reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency of AWS-based infrastructure, including serverless technologies, cloud services, and production environments.
- Drive infrastructure-as-code adoption, CI/CD improvements, environment consistency, monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices.
- Develop and maintain observability strategies, runbooks, operational metrics, and processes to reduce downtime and improve response times.
- Lead security and compliance initiatives across regulated environments, including risk assessments, audit readiness, vulnerability management, and security controls.
- Partner with engineering teams to implement secure-by-default practices around identity management, access controls, encryption, secrets management, and sensitive data protection.
- Manage corporate IT operations, including onboarding/offboarding processes, endpoint management, identity platforms, SaaS tools, vendor relationships, and employee support.
- Build scalable operational processes and develop a lean, high-impact team through automation, thoughtful tooling, and effective prioritization.
- Collaborate with technical and business leaders to communicate operational risks, performance metrics, and technology strategy.
Requirements
- Strong experience managing infrastructure, security, and reliability in complex technology environments.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, making informed decisions, and building scalable systems while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.
- Experience managing teams or leading cross-functional technical initiatives.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS services, including IAM, networking, serverless technologies, and cloud infrastructure.
- Proven experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and modern CI/CD practices.
- Experience with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001, including participation in audits.
- Background operating in regulated or high-stakes industries such as healthcare, insurance, or financial services is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure reliability, monitoring, incident response, and operational best practices.
- Experience implementing automation and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Able to evaluate emerging technologies and distinguish practical solutions from unnecessary complexity.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical risks and decisions into clear business outcomes.
- A builder mindset with strong ownership, adaptability, and sound judgment during critical situations.
