General Purpose Of Job

The Manager – Specialty Procedural Service Lines is accountable for overseeing the clinical and financial operations of the assigned procedural area(s). The manager serves as a liaison between the physicians, staff, and the executive leadership team and integrates operational, financial and clinical management to optimize organizational effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • BSN required. MSN preferred. For interim assignments the BSN is preferred but required to be currently pursuing a degree.
  • Current RN License in State of Michigan. ACLS certified for locations providing Sedation.
  • Experience Zero to three (0-3) years of progressively more responsible health care management experience required. Minimum of five years’ experience in clinical nursing. Experience in Procedural areas required.

Essential Duties

  • Plans, implements, and manages the daily and strategic operations of assigned procedural area(s) to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversees patient flow, resource allocation, and department activities across assigned area(s), delegates authority appropriately to staff.
  • Serves as the key problem-solving and decision-making resource for operational, patient, and staff issues within assigned area(s).
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and implement the department’s mission, goals, policies, procedures, and operational work standards.
  • Develops, monitors, and is accountable for the assigned procedural area(s) operating budget, including labor, supplies, and capital expenditures.
  • Maintains departmental readiness for regulatory surveys and accreditation reviews, including specialty-specific accreditation bodies.
  • Maintains clinical oversight across assigned procedural areas, ensuring compliance with established regulations, standards of practice, confidentiality requirements, and medical record documentation.
  • Monitors quality metrics, patient safety events, outcomes, experience scores, and translates findings into actionable improvement plans and drives implementation.
  • Studies patient needs and trends and develops solutions to ongoing care opportunities across assigned service areas.
  • Serves as the primary operational liaison between physician partners, medical directors, staff, and senior leadership.
  • Facilitates physician-staff communication and conflict resolution to maintain a collaborative, high-functioning procedural environment.
  • Optimizes procedure scheduling, utilization, and case throughput with physicians and schedulers.
  • Participates in Provider Meetings (as appropriate), service line planning sessions, and quality review committees as the operational representative.
  • Accountable for the full employee lifecycle within assigned areas, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, competency validation, performance management, corrective action, and retention.
  • Analyzes staffing patterns and maintains appropriate staffing levels to meet operational needs and budgetary targets across all assigned areas.
  • Develops and sustains a culture of engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Leads through change and ambiguity to maintain team stability and organizational momentum in a dynamic procedural environment.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership on the development and execution of service line strategy, organizational goals, and long-range planning for assigned procedural area(s).
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory changes, technological advancements, and shifts in healthcare service delivery as it applies to their assign service line(s).
  • Pursues self-directed learning and continuing education to maintain expertise in healthcare management and procedural operations.

Operations & Department Management

Plans, implements, and manages the daily and strategic operations of assigned procedural area(s) to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement. Oversees patient flow, resource allocation, and department activities across assigned area(s), delegates authority appropriately to staff. Serves as the key problem-solving and decision-making resource for operational, patient, and staff issues within assigned area(s). Collaborates with leadership to develop and implement the department’s mission, goals, policies, procedures, and operational work standards.

Financial Management

Develops, monitors, and is accountable for the assigned procedural area(s) operating budget, including labor, supplies, and capital expenditures. Monitors productivity metrics and implements corrective action plans when targets are not met. Oversees purchasing, inventory control, invoice resolution, and approval for assigned area(s); leads capital equipment planning and participates in vendor negotiations and contract review. Identifies, develops, and executes opportunities for service line growth, volume expansion, and revenue optimization; presents recommendations to Director and physician leadership for strategic alignment. Owns and actively manages procedural volume, utilization, case mix, and revenue performance to meet budgeted expectations; proactively identify performance gaps and implement action plans to close variances.
