About the role
The Core Infrastructure team is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the platform that powers Snap's critical Storage & Caching Infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to shape Snap's storage and caching strategy as we scale to meet the demands of an AI-first world.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of backend and full-stack developers, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment
- Build infrastructure for data processing at Snap with large scale distributed systems
- Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliver
- Collaborate with Product, Operation, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders
- Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor
- Hire, grow and retain high-performing team members
Qualifications
- Background with building high availability and mission critical systems
- Experience with leading an engineering team
- Experience leading and executing large, complex technical initiatives
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
- 8+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 7+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 3+ years of post-grad software development experience
- 1+ years of experience managing a team of engineers or acting as a technical lead
- Experience building large scale distributed systems
- Experience with big data processing and pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the driving large scale initiatives from ideation to completion
- Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Trino, BigQuery, and Spark
