About the Role

This position focuses on providing deep category insights, developing strategic recommendations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive growth and market share for our portfolio. You will leverage market, shopper, and consumer data to assess performance, identify trends, and uncover growth opportunities for both Costco and Mondelēz.

  • Non-Chocolate Candy
  • Cakes and Pastries
  • Cough Drops

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Category Management, buyer, and sales team to develop best-in-class category strategies based on qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Develop actionable recommendations to accelerate growth within categories, focusing on trends, assortment, promotional efficiencies, price elasticities, and shopper behaviors to increase basket spend and total sales.
  • Continuously optimize the business by analyzing data, tracking performance, developing category reviews, and applying learnings using diverse data sources (internal customer data, syndicated data, shopper insights, and market research).
  • Address current business challenges, define trends, and identify new growth opportunities.
  • Actively contribute to joint business planning processes.
  • Build and enhance reporting dashboards to drive strategic decisions, streamline data mining, and accelerate insights delivery.
  • Serve as the category thought-leader and advisor for the customer and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry in category management or related fields, with a proven track record of translating raw data into actionable recommendations.
  • Deep understanding of category management practices and best-in-class ways of working with retailers and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interpret complex data and turn insights into actionable strategies.
  • Experience conducting ad-hoc analyses to support strategic decision-making, including joint business planning.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and align key stakeholders in a matrixed organization, with strong project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of market segmentation models.

Skills

  • Advanced software skills relevant to shopper research and category management, including syndicated data systems (NielsenIQ, IRI/Circana, Spectra, Numerator panel data, retailer data systems).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Power Queries) is a plus.
  • Experience with Costco and Costco systems is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel (less than 15%).
  • Must live within the Costco Trade Market.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $97,300 to $133,815, depending on experience, skills, education, and location. This role is also eligible for a highly competitive bonus program with potential for overachievement based on performance and company results.
