About the Opportunity

The Manager - Risk Management (Claims) oversees global claims management across various types, including auto liability, general liability, property, cargo, and workers’ compensation. This role ensures timely and cost-effective resolution of claims while maintaining compliance with policies and regulations. It serves as the primary contact for claim-related matters and coordinates with internal teams and external partners to manage complex claims and support risk management objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all insured and self-insured claims from reporting to closure, including property, casualty, auto liability, general liability, workers' compensation, and freight.
  • Supervise the Risk Management (Claims) Analyst, managing workload, training, and performance.
  • Act as the primary corporate claims representative, collaborating with insurers, TPAs, brokers, and legal counsel.
  • Represent the organization in mediations, settlement conferences, depositions, and other claim proceedings.
  • Coordinate investigations of significant losses and support subrogation efforts.
  • Monitor claim trends and develop reports and recommendations to mitigate losses.
  • Maintain accurate claim records ensuring compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers, insurers, TPAs, medical vendors, and legal counsel.
  • Manage insurance reporting, invoice approvals, and financial processes related to claims.
  • Provide guidance and training on claim reporting, incident response, and risk mitigation to various departments.
  • Support crisis management and major loss events by coordinating claim response activities.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, or related field.
  • Seven years of experience adjusting commercial claims including general liability, auto liability, freight, and workers’ compensation.
  • Ability to interpret insurance policies.
  • Strong negotiation and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Experience managing large and complex data.
  • Effective time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
