MANAGER - RISK AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
About the role
Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital is dedicated to providing behavioral health and psychiatric support to children and teens ages 3 to 17. The hospital treats every patient with compassion and respect, using evidence-based treatment approaches and individualized care to instill hope in patients, their families, and the community.
The Manager of Risk Management and Performance Improvement serves as a key member of the hospital leadership team. The Manager of Performance Improvement organizes, plans, develops, implements, and oversees all performance improvement activities of the hospital. This role coordinates, oversees, and participates in the functioning of all Medical Staff and hospital committees, acts as a liaison between committees and teams, interfaces with members of the Medical Staff and department directors, and ensures required reports are submitted. The individual coordinates and actively participates in preparation for all external agency surveys, assumes responsibility and accountability for the PI department, and maintains current policies and procedures. The role is also responsible for coordinating risk management efforts and making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Garfield Park Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Organize, plan, develop, implement, and oversee all performance improvement activities of the hospital.
- Coordinate, oversee, and participate in the functioning of all Medical Staff and hospital committees.
- Act as a liaison between committees and teams; interface with members of the Medical Staff and department directors.
- Ensure required reports are submitted.
- Coordinate and actively participate in preparation for all external agency surveys.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for the PI department; maintain current policies and procedures.
- Coordinate risk management efforts and make recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure consistent with hospital philosophy and objectives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Experience: Prefer 4 years of clinical experience with a psychiatric mental health population; 2 years of experience in a supervisory position.
- Licensure/Certification: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of principles of risk management and performance improvement related to a healthcare environment; current knowledge of regulating/accrediting agency guidelines; basic knowledge of computer skills and statistical analysis desired.
