Manager, Revenue Accounting Operations (US - Remote)

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage data flows and system dependencies underlying financial reporting, including source-to-GL traceability
  • Independently query and validate large transaction datasets (e.g., SQL/Snowflake) to support close, reconciliations, and control testing
  • Analyze revenue results and variances, identify trends, and surface actionable insights to leadership
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics to build scalable, automated accounting workflows that reduce manual close effort
  • Identify data quality issues upstream of the GL and drive resolution with technical and business partners
  • Own and execute the monthly revenue close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP
  • Review and oversee revenue share calculations, account reconciliations, and AR matching results
  • Develop processes for the preparation and recording of required journal entries
  • Maintain process documentation and ensure SOX control readiness as the business scales
  • Ensure revenue accounting practices are compliant with GAAP
  • Cook up and manage external audit requests, including PBCs, walkthroughs, and follow-ups
  • Serve as revenue accounting lead for stand-alone state audits and regulatory reviews
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation connecting transactional data sources to reported balances
  • Support cross-functional initiatives including new product launches, cost of revenue analysis, and ad-hoc accounting requests
  • Partner with senior leaders across data, tax, treasury, legal, and FP&A to provide accounting guidance on new business activities
  • Provide hands-on leadership to a team of revenue accounting professionals, balancing direct execution with coaching, review, and team development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in revenue accounting, accounting operations, or a related finance role, with at least 2 years in a role requiring direct data analysis or systems work
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to revenue recognition and internal controls
  • Demonstrated ability to independently query and analyze large datasets — SQL proficiency required; experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Experience coordinating annual external audits (PBC management, walkthroughs, follow-ups)
  • Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for financial modeling and variance analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate data findings into accounting conclusions
  • Experience in sports betting, gaming, fintech, or another high-transaction-volume industry
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) and close management tools (FloQast, Blackline, or similar)
  • CPA license or active candidacy
  • Experience building or improving automated accounting workflows
  • Exposure to AR reconciliation frameworks, payment processor settlement matching, or revenue share accounting
