Job Summary

The Manager, Retail Inventory & Logistics Strategy will lead Optimum's retail inventory management, logistics operations, and category strategy across corporate and authorized retail store formats. This role owns end-to-end inventory lifecycle management — from demand forecasting and vendor coordination through warehouse distribution and in-store execution — and drives continuous process improvement grounded in sales-rate analytics and min/max best practices. The role also oversees designated retail warehouses (currently Bethpage & Brookhaven) and manages shipping and distribution of in-store materials to Optimum retail locations.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Strategy & Analytics

    • Analyze store-level sales performance, identify trends, and generate data-driven insights to inform inventory strategy across corporate and authorized retail store formats.
    • Develop and maintain automated inventory health dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel) to support real-time decision-making across regional markets.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on weekly forecast alignment, replenishment triggers, and process improvement.
  • Category Management & Product Launches

  • Lead category management for mobile devices and accessories, including launch planning, SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) assortment decisions, CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) pricing benchmarks, and lifecycle management.
  • Plan and execute major product launches (e.g., Samsung, Motorola, Apple) in coordination with merchandising, marketing, and field teams — including quantity forecasting, allocation strategy, and field readiness.
  • Vendor & Supply Chain Operations

    • Manage vendor relationships and third-party fulfillment workflows, including IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) compliance, shipment tracking, and device liquidation through external partners.
    • Oversee demo device allocation and setup via DCOTA (Demo Content Over The Air), product rebalances, and returns across the store portfolio.
    • Lead inventory reduction initiatives including mobile and accessory markdowns, aged inventory liquidation, and CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) strategy development in partnership with logistics teams.
  • Warehouse & Distribution

    • Oversee daily operations of designated retail warehouses, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and outbound shipment of in-store materials and demo devices.
    • Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliation processes, and compliance with company asset management policies.
  • Field Execution & Store Support

    • Support store format transitions (e.g., authorized retailer conversions), including FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) coordination, inventory allocations, and operational readiness.
    • Conduct store visits to assess operational compliance, merchandising execution, and inventory accuracy; provide documented follow-up recommendations.
    • Lead or contribute to strategic retail initiatives and synthesize frontline field input into actionable project proposals.
    • Develop internal communications, field outreach, and stakeholder-facing deliverables to support inventory and operational workstreams.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 7+ years of progressive experience in inventory management, supply chain operations, or retail operations, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.
    • Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, min/max planning, demand forecasting, and logistics best practices.
    • Knowledge of inventory planning and supply chain processes across multi-location retail environments.
    • Retail store operations experience with direct understanding of in-store inventory workflows.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel required), Power BI or equivalent BI tools, and inventory/warehouse management systems (WMS).
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 25–30% within the NY metro area and as business needs require.

    Preferred

    • Experience with telecommunications, cable or consumer electronics retail inventory.
    • Familiarity with device tracking, device lifecycle management, and carrier compliance requirements.
    • Experience with visual merchandising standards and planogram execution.
    • Trend forecasting and competitive analysis capabilities.
    • May require evening or weekend work during peak retail seasons, major product launches, or inventory events.
