About the role
The Manager Regional Optimization Planning at Valero is responsible for developing and implementing feedstock supply strategies to maximize Valero profitability. This role utilizes a linear program (LP) model or other suitable economic analysis to assess the selection of the most profitable feedstock.
Responsibilities
- Develop and present monthly feedstock strategy to upper management.
- Maintain clear understanding of feedstock purchase requirements and communicate these requirements to Traders.
- Perform a daily review of refinery operations (unit rates, key process variables, lab data, and refinery yields).
- Facilitate daily/weekly teleconferences to review operations, weekly economics, and feedstock positions with refinery planning team.
- Run individual refinery LP models for evaluation of crude economics.
- Communicate feedstock requirements to the Crude and Feedstock Traders and provide alternative grade economics.
- Initiate approval for new crude grades.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.
- 10 years of experience in the Refining, Petrochemical, or related industry, required.
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
Preferred Requirements
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, preferred.
- Linear Program (i.e. AspenTech PIMS/Spiral Suite) experience, preferred.

Pay
Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Schedule
Exempt status, meaning you are not eligible for overtime pay.
