DSV is a global provider of transport and logistics services. Founded in 1976, DSV now operates in over 80 countries, ensuring a steady supply of goods worldwide. The Safety and Quality Manager plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Safety and Security
    • Maintain positive IFR statistics and other safety metrics for assigned location/operations.
    • Ensure compliance with DSV Safety Programs Policies and Procedures and related site and client specific Standard Operation Procedures.
    • Develop and implement effective systems to comply with all applicable HSE laws and regulations.
    • Communicate site HSE goals, action plans, and results to the organization.
    • Review and develop HSE policies and procedures annually.
  • Risk Assessment
    • Devise, develop, and monitor effective Risk Assessment management strategies and implementation.
  • Monitor Performance
    • Propose, implement, and monitor measures necessary to comply with HSE Regulations.
    • Design, implement, and monitor workplace safety audits.
    • Address safety and environmental issues with regulatory agencies.
    • Audit facility and personnel for safety and environmental deficiencies.
    • Handle workers' compensation claims.
  • Health and Safety
    • Maintain accident statistics, analyze trends, and propose remedial actions.
    • Investigate accidents and near-misses, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions.
    • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Quality
    • Maintain compliance with international, industry, and customer-specific quality standards.
    • Analyze product/service issues to determine root causes.
    • Manage and communicate change control processes.
    • Coordinate internal and external auditing.
    • Assist in establishing and evaluating quality management system metrics.
    • Provide guidance and support for customer service and quality departments.
    • Develop and conduct training on the quality system.
    • Oversee document control and create controlled documents.
    • Develop and implement administrative systems including record management, traceability, and trend reporting.
  • Facility Maintenance
    • Oversight of facility upkeep, security, and material handling equipment.
    • Schedule regular maintenance to ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Set goals for continuous improvement.
  • Operation & Labor Management
    • Supports mentoring, succession planning, and management development activities.
  • Budgeting
    • Identifies cost improvement initiatives and develops a system of controls to ensure service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed parameters.
  • Customer Service
    • Maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

    Qualifications

    • Education & Experience:
      • High school diploma or GED required.
      • 3 years’ experience in logistics/distribution/relevant environments.
      • Prior experience in safety observations/inspections, developing and implementing compliance strategies and plans.
      • Knowledge of safety and health management systems and practices.
      • Preferred: Prior MHE certification/knowledge of basic MHE operation.
      • Able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during the warmer and colder months.
    • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations:
      • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.

      Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

      • Computer Skills:
        • Basic understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
        • Strong proficiency in basic MS Office applications.
      • Language Skills:
        • English (reading, writing, verbal).
      • Mathematical Skills:
        • Intermediate as needed for financials/budgeting.
      • Other Skills:
        • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to accomplish job tasks in a timely manner.
        • Good organizational and personnel skills.
        • Good communication and leadership skills, both written and oral.
        • Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
        • Participate in established cross-training metrics activities.

        Physical Demands

        • Occasionally: Handling/Fingering, Sitting.
        • Frequently: Bending.
        • Constantly: Walking and Standing.
        • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull: 21-50 pounds.
        • Reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.

        Work Environment

        • While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
        • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
