About the role
The Manager – Purchasing oversees all purchasing activities for the company's operations, including managing the buying, selling, and distribution processes. They also review project proposals, communicate with the marketing team, analyze purchasing processes, implement improvements, handle contract negotiations, and identify ideal suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing process including buying, selling, and distribution aspects of the company.
- Review new project proposals for the company.
- Communicate with the marketing team to effect working strategies.
- Analyze existing purchasing processes for performance.
- Implement improvements to existing purchasing processes and delivery systems.
- Handle contract negotiations with vendors and suppliers.
- Identify ideal suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Reviews department requisitions, bids out requisitions where appropriate, determines types of procurement and vendor to be utilized.
- Must be able to communicate organizational policies, procedures, and philosophies to associates to create a strong working relationship.
- Ensure that adequate inventory and products are available to meet the company's needs.
- Prepares instruction/procedure manuals as required to assist department with all new systems and policies.
- Prepares detailed reports regarding all aspects of the procurement process as required.
- Establish strong professional working relationships with suppliers.
- Develop and manage partnerships with vendors.
- Evaluate and analyze purchasing trends and price trends to identify forecasting demand and minimize purchasing costs.
- Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Adhere to all Virginia Lottery Regulations and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum four years' experience in purchasing.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Must obtain and maintain all licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Virginia Lottery.
- Must successfully pass background check.
- Must successfully pass drug screening.
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Prior experience in the Gaming industry strongly preferred.
- Prior experience opening new properties/outlets strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and materials management systems.
- Excellent communication skills to set clear expectations with direct reports.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, excellent work ethic.
- Material management, inventory accounting, storage, and distribution knowledge.
- Ability to be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
- Provide training and development to direct reports.
- Have a positive team player attitude, be energetic and driven.
- Interact with team members and vendors in a professional manner.
- Promote teamwork and a constructive work environment.
- Solve problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must obtain and maintain all licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Virginia Lottery.
- Experience: Minimum four years' experience in purchasing.
