Job Overview
The Purchasing Manager oversees the procurement department, ensuring the company secures the best deals and maintains strong supplier relationships. Key responsibilities include negotiating contracts, supervising staff, and implementing purchasing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement process, ensuring timely acquisition of materials for ongoing and new product initiatives.
- Ensure all goods and services are acquired at or better than established standard costs.
- Stay informed about market trends and new products that could benefit the company.
- Lead and supervise the purchasing team, assess tasks, and coordinate activities.
- Update standard operating procedures, train purchasing staff, and enhance procurement activities.
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve procurement issues and manage supplier relationships.
- Support buyers in managing inventory challenges, adjusting delivery dates, and addressing past due orders.
- Safeguard company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, cost savings, and supplier performance.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, cost, and service levels.
- Train, coach, and evaluate purchasing staff performance.
- Support audits and ensure proper documentation and record retention.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations, Logistics, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Previous progressively responsible leadership or managerial experience.
- Strong computer literacy, including advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, V-Look Ups), Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptionally articulate in oral and written communications with strong analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Results-driven and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
