About the role

The Purchasing Manager will help secure raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services to support the operations of the St. Louis manufacturing facility. This role will execute both tactical and strategic purchasing activities to ensure customer service levels and minimize costs.

Responsibilities

  • Secure and plan necessary raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services to meet/exceed service level objectives for both internal and external customers.
  • Integrate MRP functions with Sales and Operation Planning to automate purchasing and raw material planning activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including demand, production planning, logistics, and finance to align material planning with overall business objectives.
  • Analyze MRP reports and forecasts to identify potential material shortages or excesses and implement measures to mitigate risks and optimize inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with planning inventory targets for all raw materials to meet Cash Conversion Cycle objectives.
  • Timely communication and master data updates of raw material costs to finance, supply chain, and marketing functions.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to achieve departmental goals. Analyze, maintain, generate, and support Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience with detailed knowledge of procurement principles, concepts, and methodologies.
  • Strong Excel skills with pivot tables and data analytics.
  • JD Edwards Enterprise One experience is beneficial, along with knowledge of ERP systems processes.
  • Power BI and Cognos experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience in supervising planning and purchasing employees.

  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex data to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address potential material shortages or excesses.

Skills

  • Proficiency in JD Edwards Enterprise One and ERP systems processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables and data analytics.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and Cognos.
  • Experience in managing and supervising planning and purchasing employees.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
