Manager, Public Policy

Description

Alexa is seeking a Manager, Public Policy to develop and execute the company's public policy efforts related to product safety. You will be responsible for developing and executing government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon on issues related to product safety at the federal level. You will represent Amazon before Congress and other relevant federal agencies, including the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

About the role

You will work collaboratively and transparently with others in public policy and business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals, as well as coordinate product safety policy positioning more broadly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon on issues related to product safety at the federal level.
• Represent Amazon before Congress and other relevant federal agencies, including the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
• Work collaboratively and transparently with the Public Policy team, the business, and legal department to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals.
• Manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and initiatives in concert with business objectives.
• Anticipate challenges/obstacles as the public policy landscape evolves.
• Participate in relevant industry associations.
• Ensure effective use of outside consultants.
• Facilitate high-level meetings with key stakeholders, including Congressional, regulatory, industry association, and partners to promote and advocate the company’s public policy priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 8+ years of public policy experience
• An ability and desire to travel is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies
• Experience in regulatory frameworks and policy analysis methodologies
• Experience working on product safety public policy and other matters related to Amazon’s policy priorities
