Manager, Public Policy

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Manager, Public Policy to assist in developing and coordinating fast-moving policy strategy in support of Amazon’s commitment to Strive to Be Earth’s Best Employer. The Manager, Public Policy will serve in a liaison capacity between Public Policy and multiple business partners.

This position will work collaboratively with others in public policy and relevant businesses to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. The ideal candidate will be organized, strategic, and have experience leading policy campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively and transparently with the Public Policy team, the business, and legal department to ensure alignment between core business priorities, public policy goals, and coordinate policy issues across state legislatures and regulatory bodies
• Manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and initiatives in concert with business objectives
• Anticipate challenges/obstacles as the public policy landscape evolves
• Participate in relevant industry associations
• Lead engagements with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
• 8+ years of experience in public policy, government, or trade associations on relevant topics
• Ability and desire to travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
• Experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery, or experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
• Experience working with public policy stakeholders and managing multiple policy issues
• Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to interact with senior professionals effectively and comfortably, including policymakers and senior executives
• Strong understanding of government relations, external advocacy, and communication tactics

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $138,500.00 - $187,300.00 USD annually, depending on location. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
