About the role

The Manager, Project – New Nuclear Development leads front-end development and execution readiness for advanced nuclear new build projects across the U.S. This role supports Aecon’s New Nuclear portfolio, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), first of a kind advanced reactor technologies, and large gigawatt-scale nuclear projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams across the U.S., including internal functions and external partners.
  • Guide teams through uncertainty with clarity and disciplined project controls.
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety culture, quality standards, and collaborative delivery environment.
  • Support development of Aecon’s nuclear workforce and supplier capacity.
  • Lead development and execution planning for first of a kind SMR technologies
  • Navigate challenges including evolving designs, supply chain, licensing risk, and constructability constraints.
  • Advance construction strategies for modular fabrication, sequencing, site integration, and factory-built components.
  • Apply lessons learned from prior nuclear builds to improve cost, schedule, quality, and predictability.
  • Support business development efforts to advance new build nuclear opportunities in the U.S.
  • Lead or support RFQs, RFPs, and proposals in collaboration with BD, Engineering, Construction, and Project Controls.
  • Develop early execution strategies, schedules, estimates, risk registers, and procurement approaches.
  • Support siting, permitting, environmental assessment, licensing strategy, and early engineering discussions.
  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing the project execution plan.
  • Cook up cross-functional teams to align on execution goals, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Monitor and validate project performance across Safety, Quality, Cost, and Schedule.
  • Oversee construction estimates, detailed schedules, execution plans, and recovery strategies.
  • Resolve constructability, modularization, sequencing, logistics, and supply chain risks.
  • Support change management and commercial impacts related to evolving FOAK designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of project management experience, including 5+ years in EPC or nuclear construction environments.
  • 10+ years of nuclear construction experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience with large-scale nuclear projects (AP1000 or equivalent an asset).
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear estimating, scheduling, project controls, and execution planning.
