Manager, Program Management
Job Summary
Construction Project Managers are responsible for planning, overseeing and leading residential construction projects from ideation through completion. This role requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders, typically managing several projects and project tasks simultaneously. Under the direction of the Construction Project Director, they oversee the completion of project tasks and monitor adherence to perpetual project management process standards.
Job Duties
- Defines project scopes and objectives, including review and approval of cost estimates
- Prepares project plans, including workflows, detailed schedules, procedures, and any other tools necessary in the development and implementation of day-to-day project tasks
- Manages contracts and agreements by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
- Anticipates and adjusts project plans for the efficient execution of project tasks
- Develops clear, straightforward plans that lead the general contractors in the completion of project tasks
- Captures and coordinates the flow of information from the general contractor, the team and/or to the client regarding the project
- Serves as the main point of contact for general contractors and uses their knowledge of best practices in residential construction and project management to recommend corrective action for schedule slippage; ensure timely delivery of multiple projects simultaneously, and communicate project expectations, rules or standards to general contractors
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, construction management, engineering, architecture, planning, business administration, preferred
- Three (3) or more years’ experience in construction management role, required
- Project development experience, including project management, risk management, controls, scheduling, budgeting, planning, auditing, systems processes, etc., preferred
- Experience with management of federal funds, specifically CDBG-DR housing, preferred
- Risk management experience in project management, preferred
- Experience in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production of all phases of residential construction, preferred
- Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), preferred
- Software Experience with scheduling or program management tool such as MS Project or Primavera, preferred
- Experience with cost estimation software such as Xactimate, preferred
- Proficiency in the basic MS Office tools including Excel, Power Point as well as Visio & Smartsheet, preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, preferred
- Stakeholder management skills, preferred
- Ability to work within budgets and to deadlines, preferred
- Confident decision-making ability, preferred
- Have excellent analytical skills, be proactive resourceful and have a proven ability to solve problems creatively and efficiently, preferred
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline, preferred
- Knowledge in project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices, preferred
