About the role

The successful candidate will lead a team of product managers to define a roadmap of product features that enhance the travel and operational experience for Alaska Airlines passengers. This role requires exceptional planning and communication skills, as well as the ability to work closely with senior executives and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of product managers to determine Alaska’s product vision, roadmap, strategy and plans.
  • Develops a 1-3 year vision and strategy by acting as the voice of the user and advocating for the user's highest needs.
  • Oversees the product strategy and assists in the creation of the individual product roadmaps.
  • Affirms and maintains a steering committee to ensure the roadmap and features are well-informed and supported by key partners.
  • Conducts competitive analysis across the airline and travel industries.
  • Identifies gaps in product functionality, plans out future enhancements, and assigns priority.
  • Maintains a robust reporting suite for sharing product metrics with key constituents.
  • Communicates product status, key issues, and release plans to key constituents across the organization.
  • Fosters a culture of high performance, critical thinking, great design, and vibrant collaboration.
  • Manages, trains, and mentors Product Managers.
  • Selects and manages vendor relationships and their products.
  • Stays current in Agile Product Management best practices and develops team members as needed.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in Product management.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Past success defining and launching mobile products.
  • Passion for mobile app user experience and design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and executives.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of APIs and web-services architecture.
  • Familiarity with Visio, Power Point, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and solve problems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Demonstrates success leading, coaching, and developing high-performing Product Management teams in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
  • Hands-on experience with airline crew scheduling and operational systems such as JCTE, AIMS, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience working in the airline industry, particularly supporting large-scale, mission-critical operational products.

Pay

$146,400 - $219,600 / year. Salary details will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, relevant experience/level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees.
