Manager (Procurement)

About the Role

The Manager (Procurement) is responsible for overseeing all activities related to Connector Systems. This role involves supporting and mentoring team members in best practices, escalation, negotiation, performance, and more. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, understand design requirements, and be capable of reviewing vendor capabilities to identify cost savings opportunities. Additionally, the Manager will support other functions within WH Purchasing as determined by management.

Responsibilities

• Establish cost reduction targets for provisional component contribution, track and measure performance, and report monthly to ensure targets are met.
• Provide strategic guidance, mentorship, set objectives, and complete performance evaluations for the provisional team, fostering professional growth aligned with SEWS objectives.
• Enhance and grow the Buyer skill set in negotiation, project management, and compliance.
• Support the development and implementation of procurement policies alongside Purchasing Management.
• Serve as an escalation point for the team with suppliers or others when commercial support is required.
• Implement roadmaps, ideas, and complete VA/VE initiatives to ensure cost savings, coordinating with DE, QA, and other related departments as needed.
• Provide support in organizing and coordinating all activities of the global team (GPA) to ensure alignment and effective execution.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on technical capability, quality, and cost, and conduct supplier audits for development and maintenance as strategic suppliers.
• Participate in design reviews to provide input on feasibility and supplier capability, collaborating cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Material Control as needed.
• Work with Program Management and Engineering teams on new product launches, prototypes, and tooling requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, etc.).
• 4 years of experience in Purchasing, Sales, Contract Management (negotiation a plus).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (component drawings, specifications, injection molding, etc.).
• Ability to work in a Team First Environment.
• Willingness to travel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
