Manager - Plant Operations
About the role
We are hiring a Plant Operations Manager in LaGrange, IL. Airgas offers comprehensive family benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. The role involves supporting and coordinating with the team for the production and repackaging of compressed and liquid gases cylinders, addressing unsafe acts or conditions, and collaborating on task distribution.
Responsibilities
- Supports and coordinates with the team contributing to the production and repackaging of compressed and liquid gases cylinders.
- Addresses unsafe acts or conditions promptly and thoughtfully.
- Collaborates on and/or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Introduces and champions measures to advance production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance.
- Studies production schedules and plans team capacity for completion of job assignments.
- Maintains compliance with all federal, state, local, and company policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Operates and safely maintains the plant for pumping or repackaging of gases into cylinders.
- Shares company policies with the team and promotes safety regulations to protect our people.
- Supports the achievement of proper investigation and reporting for all injuries and accidents within 24 hours.
- Nurtures alignment and collaborates with team members in solving work-related problems.
- Recommends and/or initiates career journey adjustments, such as promotions, transfers, and performance harmony measures.
- Supports the achievement of effective handling for associate issues, grievances, etc.
- Supports and partners with supervisors to provide guidance and leadership.
- Initiates and/or suggests plans to inspire the team to contribute to our shared journey.
- Provides coaching and supportive feedback promptly, to ensure that individuals needing additional support are identified, documented, and empowered to reach acceptable performance, or guided toward new opportunities.
- Sustains time and production records and approves overtime when essential, while keeping overtime at sustainable levels.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least two (2) years of demonstrated experience working in a supervisory/leadership role
- Prior experience with compressed/packaged gases
- At least five (5) years of industry experience
- Strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of how to leverage metrics and related tools to improve production efficiency and effectiveness
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with others in both favorable and unfavorable situations regardless of status of position
- Accepts cultural diversity and establishes effective working relationships
- Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter; self-motivated; well organized; ability to work independently
- Detail oriented with the ability to complete handwritten compliance documentation neatly and accurately
- Demonstrated dedication to product quality and customer satisfaction
- Able to operate a fork-lift
