About the role

We are seeking a Manager of People Operations to join our People Team in Los Angeles. In this role, you will oversee and optimize People Operations processes, systems, and team execution to support organizational goals. This role blends strategic planning with day-to-day operational leadership, with a strong focus on improving HR systems, policies, workflows, compliance, and employee experience through scalable, data-informed, and AI-enabled solutions. This role demands strong operational execution, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage People Team operational functions throughout the full employee lifecycle, ensuring seamless, consistent, and compliant processes from onboarding to offboarding.
  • Develop and implement People Operations strategies, policies, procedures, and service delivery standards that improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and employee experience.
  • Drive the responsible use of AI, automation, and workflow tools to reduce manual work, improve turnaround times, strengthen data quality, and create more scalable People Operations processes.
  • Identify, prioritize, and lead process improvement initiatives across People Operations, using AI-enabled tools where appropriate to streamline repetitive tasks, documentation, reporting, intake, audits, and employee support workflows.
  • Build and maintain clear operating rhythms, SOP documentation, knowledge bases, and intake/ticketing processes to improve team accountability, transparency, and service quality.
  • Partner with People Team leadership to align operational strategies with business objectives and translate priorities into actionable roadmaps, process improvements, and measurable outcomes.
  • Oversee People data management, reporting, and analytics, providing timely insights, dashboards, and recommendations to support decision-making, workforce planning, compliance, and operational performance.
  • In conjunction with the Workday team, ensure data accuracy and continuously improve HRIS processes, including integrations, upgrades, security, workflows, and system optimization.
  • Partner with program owners across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, benefits administration, performance management cycles, training initiatives, employee changes, and offboarding, ensuring alignment among teams and smooth handoffs.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for LOA programs, including coordinating leave requests, ensuring timely processing, accurate recordkeeping, and compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication, process alignment, and change management during acquisition integrations, reorganizations, and other business changes.
  • Lead audits and compliance reviews, ensuring adherence to local and federal employment law and internal policies; oversee requisite annual reporting submissions and related documentation.
  • Own the maintenance of a robust, secure, and compliant filing and records management system for People and operational documentation, including personnel files, contracts, consultant records, and other key documents.
  • Ensure proper archiving, retention, and retrieval of key documents, with clear governance and access protocols.
  • Ensure all Company-facing People documentation and information is accurate, current, and easy to access, including The.Team Central, intranet resources, Workday dashboards, templates, and employee-facing guidance.
  • Support change management initiatives and organizational restructuring when needed, ensuring operational readiness, clear communication, and consistent execution.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop People Operations staff, setting clear priorities, building capability, and ensuring high performance and continuous development.
  • Establish and monitor operational metrics to assess team performance, process health, employee experience, and the impact of AI and automation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience improving operations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with strong knowledge across business process design, automation, ticketing systems, HRIS workflows, and operational governance.
  • Understanding of the intersection of systems, people, data, and process, and ability to strategically align them to drive business outcomes and scalable execution.
  • Strong working knowledge of AI and automation tools, with practical experience identifying use cases, improving workflows, and implementing responsible, human-centered AI-enabled process improvements.
  • Comfort evaluating AI opportunities through the lens of data privacy, employee experience, compliance, accuracy, change management, and measurable operational impact.
  • Working knowledge of navigating and utilizing HRIS applications, ideally Workday, as well as best practices for personnel data management, record keeping, integrations, and reporting.
  • Experience leading or directly managing People Operations, HR Operations, or shared services team members, including setting priorities, coaching performance, and building repeatable ways of working.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, managing multiple priorities, competing stakeholders, and strict deadlines.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong proficiency in Excel, reporting tools, dashboards, and the ability to work independently to identify and resolve issues.
  • Highly curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable leading through ambiguity while driving practical solutions forward.
  • A collaborative leader and trusted partner with a proven ability to build strong relationships across People, Finance, Legal, IT, Operations, and business teams.
  • Familiarity with change management practices and ability to bring stakeholders along when introducing new processes, systems, tools, or ways of working.
  • Passion for delivering a seamless, positive employee experience and influencing continuous improvement across People systems and processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, or 4+ years of People Operations / HR Operations experience preferred.

Pay

Base salary range: $80K-$85K, plus bonus potential if applicable for role. Actual base salary is dependent on several factors including but not limited to; market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), level of responsibility, budgetary considerations, tenure at the company (for current employees), etc.
