Purpose Statement
Plan, manage and coordinate the activities of a patient support team, services or programs of the department.
Essential Functions
- Cook up and oversee the day-to-day operations of the shift or unit.
- Maintain communication and relationships between medical staff, other department staff and leadership team.
- Perform day-to-day operational and administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
- Conduct and administer fiscal operations, including planning budgets, authorizing expenditures and coordinating financial reporting.
- Prepare activity reports to inform management of the status and implementation plans of programs, services and quality initiatives.
- May assist patient with their daily living activities, administer basic health care or treatments, participate in therapeutic or recreational group activities.
- Oversee admitting and discharging of patient.
- Maintain the physical and emotional well-being of patient and report unusual behavior or physical ailments to appropriate staff.
- Prepare and maintain records of progress and services performed.
- Lead or co-lead individual or group sessions as part of specific recreational or therapeutic procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with other staff in working with the population of the facility to treat, rehabilitate and return patient to the community.
- Cook up and schedule events and activities as needed.
- Provide transportation for patient as needed.
- Drive facility motor vehicle or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff member.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.
- When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.
- Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- An associate's or bachelor’s degree in human service field from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Served in the role of Patient Support for the facility for one or more years with an additional two or more years of experience in a customer support/service role, preferably in the health or human services field.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
- Valid state driver's license may be required based on staffing or census needs.
