About the role

Responsible for crew safety, environmental compliance, productivity, profitability, employee retention, and customer satisfaction within the business unit. Assist in management of all Coke Making activities as a collaborative member of the management team.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the implementation of business unit safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals
• Maintains interpersonal relationships with individuals both external and internal to the organization
• Be an active participant in developing and maintaining a culture of professionalism
• Develops employees to maximize performance potential
• Responsible for enforcement of rules, policies, or expectations
• Responsible for the implementation of crew/turn safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or technical degree in a related field and 5 years’ experience performing similar responsibilities. In the absence of a formal degree, a high school diploma or GED and 5 to 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing operation and maintenance capacity (experience in Battery Heating and Patching is highly desired), including supervisory experience is required to provide for the following:
  • Manufacturing experience in an operating discipline
  • Strong safety experience
  • Team Leading experience that demonstrates effective planning skills and an ability to manage and develop people
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and presence through a track record of accomplishments
  • Demonstrated capability to achieve results through people, technology, and processing equipment
  • Good knowledge of the assigned area of responsibility
  • Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority, and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leader, who collaborate on employee issues and decisions (including performance management, compensation, and development)
• Must possess a valid driver’s license

• Sit, stand, or walk for a minimum of 8-hour shifts, including walking long distances, up and down stairs, and on uneven ground

• Frequently climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or occasionally crawl
• Enter and work in confined space areas
• Talk and hear; use hands and fingers; handle and feel; and able to reach with hands and arms extensively
• Frequent operations of controls with occasional driving and fine hand function manipulations of tools and equipment
• Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme heat and cold
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or machinery and burns
• Occasionally exposed to vibration and fumes or airborne particles which will require the use of personal protective equipment including respirators; flame-retardant clothing; self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), etc.
• Exposed to protected and unprotected heights, which requires the use of a personal fall protection system (harness/lifeline)
• The noise level in the work environment may occasionally go above the threshold, requiring PPE
