Manager Operations - Senior

Reporting to the Director, Operations, this role directs and manages a team of employees—including contractors, supervisors, group leaders, and craft technicians—in the operation, maintenance, and repair of hydroelectric facilities and associated equipment. The goal is to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable energy production in compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure company personnel, contractors, and consultants follow approved Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and procedures, and comply with applicable legislation.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory licenses, permits, and operational codes.
• Manage and coordinate maintenance and operations for the Kennebec and Saco River facilities, including establishing, planning, and executing maintenance programs while balancing operational priorities.
• Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies, and assist in budget and work plan development.
• Allocate resources to meet annual corporate HSSE, maintenance, and administration objectives within established budgets.
• Tender, contract, and negotiate agreements with contractors or consultants on behalf of Brookfield.
• Supervise maintenance, trades, and technical staff, and assist in developing training plans.
• Monitor employee engagement and ensure activities support its enhancement.
• Manage accountabilities with limited direct oversight while maintaining appropriate organizational communication.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in hydro or other generation plant operations and maintenance, with at least 8–10 years of supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Demonstrated ability to encourage staff growth, exhibit confidence, and maintain accuracy, thoroughness, and professionalism.
• Ensure adherence to HSSE policies and protection of public and company property.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, EUSA safety rules, Brookfield policies, and operational codes.
• Experience with scheduling, planning, budgetary controls, and technical report preparation.
• Ability to prioritize multiple objectives and manage competing demands.
• Superior written and oral communication, analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
• Ability to function effectively under stress and adapt to roles outside core responsibilities.
• Willingness to learn and expand into new areas of operation.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license; travel is required.

Pay

$140,000–$155,000 plus bonus.
