About the role
Plaza Tire, part of Sun Auto Tire & Service, is seeking a motivated individual for the Manager-on-Deck (MOD) position. This role offers hands-on experience in automotive service management while preparing you for a leadership role within our company. The MOD is responsible for overall store performance, including financial and operational aspects, guest services, sales, profitability, and team management.
Responsibilities
- People:
- Set expectations and communicate regularly with employees regarding job responsibilities, goals, training, development, and customer service.
- Hold employees accountable through coaching or counseling toward desired behaviors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures via meetings, store audits, etc.
- Partner with HR to recruit, interview, and hire new employees as needed.
- Conduct performance evaluations for all employees at regular intervals.
- Financials:
- Analyze and measure business trends; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed sales and profit targets.
- Share financial targets and results with employees during store meetings.
- Review invoices and daily reports to identify opportunities for business growth.
- Maintain proper controls over the company’s physical and financial assets.
- Follow standard closing procedures, including timely deposit of checks and cash.
- Facilities:
- Ensure store cleanliness (front and back) at all times.
- Maintain "Best in class" housekeeping and merchandising standards for customer comfort.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and request maintenance as needed.
- Ensure purchased but unused parts are returned to vendors, credits received, and forwarded to Accounting.
Requirements
- Two or more years of management experience or equivalent business experience in the automotive industry.
- Proven ability to manage and coach team members through effective communication.
- Track record of developing and meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual plans with clearly defined goals.
- Consistently meet and exceed sales and profit goals.
- Previous experience as an Automotive Technician or similar position preferred but not required.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a current or expired State Inspector License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to work a minimum of five days per week, including weekends.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous/non-hazardous materials.
- Work environment temperature varies and may include extreme heat and/or cold.
- Physical demands include:
- Standing up to eight hours per day and walking to access various areas of the building.
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching regularly; full range of motion with arms and hands.
- Frequent handling or fingering of objects.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Hearing and speaking abilities sufficient for communication.
- Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus.
Pay
$60,000 – $75,000 per year.
