Manager of Special Events

About the role

The Manager of Special Events Division oversees the execution, staffing, and technical support of meetings and events in key university venues. Responsibilities include leading event support teams, coordinating logistics, providing training, and ensuring adherence to safety and ADA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and evaluate event support staff
• Oversee event setup, management, and tear down
• Provide annual and ongoing training on event guidelines
• Provide audio-visual support and solutions
• Maintain inventory of audio-visual equipment and supplies
• Schedule and manage shuttle operations
• Communicate and enforce University policies regarding event use
• Attend and brief team members on daily events
• Perform routine walk-throughs and address maintenance issues
• Log and coordinate lost and found items
• Manage event-related work orders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, or related field
• Three to five years of professional experience in event management, two of which include supervision
• Strong active listening and clear communication skills
• Exceptional service orientation and ability to work with diverse clients
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record

Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of ADA compliance, fire and safety regulations, and University policies
• Ability to anticipate and resolve problems
• Organizational skills and attention to detail

Pay

$50,000 annually

Schedule

Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
