MANAGER OF PLANNING
Entry-level position within the Accounting Series. Under direction of the Senior Accountant, performs routine clerical accounting duties related to the preparation, processing, and maintenance of statistical and financial records in accordance with established procedures and governmental accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Cash handling and financial record maintenance
Works under the direction of the Passenger Services Lead to perform duties in Customer Service, Onboard Passenger Services, and Operations Monitoring Center. Fills in for staff during temporary vacancies and provides general backup support as needed.
Schedule
- Shifts vary greatly and coincide with the train schedule
- Some shifts start as early as 3:00 am and some end after 9:30 pm, or after the last train
Skilled, hands-on role installing and maintaining premium, smart LED exterior lighting systems for residential properties across the East Bay.
Pay
$32.00 – $38.00 per hour (based on experience)

---Based at the Oakland Maintenance Facility, this role serves as the agency's lead authority for fleet maintenance, technical compliance, reliability, and rolling stock performance for all passenger rail equipment.

- Develops, implements, and oversees maintenance programs and inspection processes
- Leads quality assurance initiatives and fleet reliability strategies
- Ensures compliance with technical standards for North American passenger rail equipment
Leads and oversees advanced, highly complex professional planning studies and activities under the direction of the Deputy Director of Planning, Grants and Programming.
Responsibilities
- Short, mid, and long-range passenger rail and transit planning
- Agency coordination, advocacy, and station area development
- Environmental planning and network integration with other transportation services (including high-speed rail)
