Manager of Operations, University Recreation

4-month temporary contract, onsite in Seattle.

About the Role

Seattle University seeks a Manager of Operations to provide daily operational oversight of the Eisminger Fitness Center, Redhawks Complex, and other UREC fitness facilities. This position is supervised by the Associate Director and interfaces with Assistant Directors, Facilities, and Athletics.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, manages, maintains, and supervises the William F. Eisiminger Fitness Center, Redhawk Complex (150,000 sq. ft. indoor recreation and athletic facility), SU Park (multi-purpose field, softball field, and jogging track), and four tennis courts.
• Collaborates with the Department of Facilities Operations and non-university contractors/vendors to ensure proper maintenance of all recreation and intercollegiate athletic facilities.
• Approves policies and procedures for the proper operation of recreation facilities.
• Manages maintenance and daily operations, including field lighting schedules, timely work order submission, and appropriate equipment storage.
• Enforces rules and regulations specific to recreational programs and facilities.
• Ensures immediate incident reporting in all areas of responsibility.
• Manages access control and communication for outside user groups.
• Recommends, selects, and inventories capital equipment purchases for recreation facilities.
• Manages daily deposits of cash and other financial resources for membership sales.
• Promotes, hires, trains, and supervises 20-40 UREC operations staff for building and program supervision.
• Assists with the management and implementation of departmental assessments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience supervising and developing professional staff and graduate students.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentations and group facilitation.
• Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision, and values.
• All positions require a criminal history background check.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management/administration, or a related field plus a minimum of three years of professional experience in the administration of campus recreation programs or a related field with at least one year of facilities management experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Pay

$28 per hour. Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as qualifications, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
